University Commons – Durham, NC

Ruston Paving mobilized its Durham crews to reconstruct the parking areas at University Commons, a newly renovated apartment community located within minutes of Duke University. Prior failures to the pavement surfaces were attributed to the unsuitable subbase. Once we removed the the old concrete and pavement, our crews added course aggregate and stabilized the subbase with Portland cement. Two lifts of hot mix asphalt were then applied to give a smooth wearing surface. Capstone Development Corporation, who had recently taken over the property, was so pleased with the results, additional sections of the community are scheduled to be rehabilitated.
