Our Durham division crews recently completed site improvements to the Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School. This was the first school in Wake County to be purpose-built as a Magnet High School. Magnet schools are public schools with specialized courses or curricula. This particular school focuses on its magnet themes of leadership and technology.
Some of the parking lots and service area roads were close to 20 years old and in need of repair. Ruston Paving was called upon to remove and replace the existing pavement and subbase for reconstruction of the parking areas and service driveways. Here we are seen adding water to the new stone base prior to achieving the final grade and compaction. This process is sometimes refered to as "wet and set".
