About the Syracuse Division serving Ithaca and the Central New York Region
Ruston Paving has completed a substantial number of projects in and around Ithaca over the years. The ongoing expansion and reconstruction required for Ithaca College and Cornell University have kept our crews busy. Additionally, the area’s commercial businesses have required our services for many years, and we’ve been all too happy to help.
Our Syracuse Division serves Ithaca New York. As the original Ruston Paving location founded in 1943, our Syracuse Division continues to set the asphalt paving services standard for the rest of the company. It is here where the blueprint was drafted by founder Mike Ruston to form a company known for providing quality at a competitive price. Mike’s core values continue to guide the company’s vision and remain the basis for our corporate mission. From this central location, the Syracuse Division can provide asphalt paving services in Central NY, and support for our other divisions within the state. In 1987, Ruston Paving moved into its current location on Thompson Road from the original site in Jamesville.
Recent Projects in Ithaca and the Surrounding Areas
Asphalt Paving Repairs at Ithaca College
While the majority of students were home for the summer, our crews were at Ithaca College. The main campus roadways and parking lots needed various pavement improvements. It was all hands on deck as the project required grading, asphalt milling, and asphalt paving.
Asphalt Improvements at Cargill Deicing Technology
Cargill’s parking lot, salt pads, and roadways were cracked, rutted and raveling. After consulting with our project management team, we developed a plan to repair each section. Asphalt milling, full depth stone base repairs, and asphalt paving were all required. Our crews were able to rehabilitate the pavement areas to safely accommodate the facility’s heavy equipment and truck traffic.
Asphalt Removal and Replacement for Verizon
Verizon has a facility in Ithaca where it also maintains a cellular communications tower. The asphalt pavement on the roadway, along with the parking lot, was potholed and rutted beyond repair. The best solution was to use our milling machine to remove all the deteriorated pavement. Our paving crews then installed two new layers of asphalt pavement.
