Ruston Paving was contracted by Leith, Inc. to install an additional parking lot at their new Leith Volkswagen facility on Capital Boulevard in North Raleigh, NC. This is the third project we've completed for Leith, Inc this year and there are plans for more work in the near future. Our ability to react to ever changing weather and site conditions allowed us to meet the tight time constraints. We were contacted on the 12th of October to provide a quote for the project and we were challenged with a deadline of having it completed by the end of the month. Reacting quickly, we were able to start with the excavation on the following Monday and installed all of the subbase prior to the following 2 day rain event. This event along with the tall pine trees surrounding the area made it impossible for the stone to dry and cure out. With the end of the month deadline approaching and rain in the forecast, we were able to expedite the schedule and stabilize the wet subbase material by adding Portland cement. On short notice, we mobilized our equipment from a nearby Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) project at 5:00 pm the evening prior to scheduled paving operations. As you can see by the pictures were paving on the stabilized base by 8:00 am the next morning and putting the final layer on that afternoon to meet all of the deadlines that were established.
