Due to constant heavy traffic, the roadway at Pactiv's Canandaigua facility was severely rutted and failing. As opposed to digging out the old pavement, Pactiv chose to have Ruston Paving recycle it in-place using Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) with Stabilization. The material was pulverized, stabilized with Portland cement, graded and compacted to form a new and improved subbase on which a heavy-duty base course of asphalt was applied. Pactiv Corporation, a leader in the consumer and food service/food packaging markets, is based in Lake Forest, IL., and has 44 manufacturing plants in North America and one in Germany. Its Canandaigua facility manufactures several products, most notably Hefty trash bags.
