Graham Construction was the general contractor tasked to build the new Costco Wholesale store in Rochester. Due to some unsuitable local soils, the site contractor responsible for preparing the building pad could not get the area to pass the required density test. Although the site contractor proposed to undercut the subbase, a more cost effective solution method was desired.
After some research, Graham found that Ruston Paving was experienced with soil stabilization, and we were called in to see if we could rectify the situation. A soil cement design was proposed and approved with the help of a local testing company. Within a week, the entire site was stabilized at a cost that was far less than the undercut option, and the store's construction was able to continue.
